Name: Chianti Classico Riserva
Variety: Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Canaiolo Nero
Region: Tuscany, Italy
Year: 2011
Price: $20
Winemaker's notes: Color: Deep ruby-red. Bouquet: Rich with notes of cherries, plums, and iris. Taste: Deep cherry and leather flavors with subtle wood notes. Supple tannins, good acidity, and a lingering finish.
Critic Reviews: "Very immediate on the nose, with ripe summer fruit and hints of powder puff and pot pourri. Very young and intense but still a little unsettled on the palate, with some traditional oak aromas still to be assimilated, intriguing complexity and great potential."
My Review: Wow. This wine is killer. I absolutely love Chianti (especially with Italian food). The taste is very fruity, almost overpowering but it toned down the more it is left to breathe and has a more oaky flavor. Very delicious and I would love to pair with my great grandmother's gravy recipe. (spaghetti sauce for non-Italians)
“Accept what life offers you and try to drink from every cup. All wines should be tasted; some should only be sipped, but with others, drink the whole bottle.” Cheers!
